CHESS TOURNAMENT

 

Saturday, April 24th

Rockhurst High School

This annual city championship awards "bragging rights" to the winners in three divisions: High School, Middle/Junior High and Elementary. In addition the High School team also hosts the following year's tournament.

Format:     5 round, Team v. Team event.

5 players per team. G/30 - See TEAMS below for further info

Entry Fee: $10 per player/ $50 per team.

Registration: Email by Thursday on 4/22, please send entries to CJ Armenta at bigpawn@kc.rr.com

Please give the player names in board order of your entry along with school name.

Check in players from 8:00 – 8:45 at the registration table

Rounds 1: 9:00am with Awards approximately at 2pm.  If games finish earlier we will pair the next round as quickly as we can

Individual Awards: Top scoring player on each board will medal.

Team Awards: KC Cup to first place High School, Junior High/Middle School, Elementary

TEAM INFORMATION:

Teams: Each school may send as many teams as it wishes. Keep in mind that you may end up playing against a team from your school, there is no "school  protection" when pairing.  Players will be ordered based on the highest of the USCF, KSCA or CXR rating.

Composite/ Bundled Teams: If you have less than 5 members on your team then the TD will fill your team will individual players or players from other schools. Composite teams are not eligible to win the cup in their division. However each team member is eligible for board prizes.   It is up to the discretion of the TD how he will fill teams.

Concessions:  Lunch will be available on site

 

Directions: 9301 State Line Rd.: From I435 south of the city take the State Line Road exit and proceed north two miles.  Rockhurst is on the east side of the street just north of 95th (Bannister).
